Plenary Talk at Virtual Conference on Healthy Ageing

}

In this plenary talk at the UCT-hosted, IARU Healthy Ageing: Research, Strategies and Actions, Annual Graduate Student Conference, 30 Sept – 2 Oct 2020, I share the findings and argument from my latest publication on The Pivotal Role of Grandparents during Covid 19 in the UK and South Africa. The article is published with Feminist Economics. The findings show that grandparents within and across households make substantial contribution to economic, social and affective lives and the study argues for greater recognition of these crucial contributions and the development of a more intersectional understanding of the provision of care work. The conference presented innovative, interdisciplinary research with a focus on research conducted on the African subcontinent with a focus on Southern Africa.
